My DTS starts in 70 days!! And our flight leaves in 64 days! This adventure is starting to feel very, very real and I’ve started to realize what all I have to do to get ready. Luckily, the plane tickets have already been bought. However, we still have to pay the YWAM registration fee, travel insurance, and find winter clothes. We’ve raised roughly $3,500, although most of that money just went to the airport. That means we still need $2,000 more.
Last night was our Maybelle and Dixie fundraiser. We had a great show; around 40-50 people showed up, and we gathered a lot of donations! I don’t know how much profit we brough in, yet, so that is NOT counted in the money bar. Most importantly, though, we had fun. My grandfather took several pictures, which I hope to share soon. In the meantime, take a look at the wonderful hosts and band from the show, sporting fur from Robin Hood and Little John Taxidermy, one of their “sponsors.” Their motto is “Just because it’s dead, doesn’t mean it’s useless!” I was one of their “cousins” helping them advertise. It was a lot of fun! I’m so incredibly thankful that Jillian and Abby gave me this opportunity.
And now for our next fundraising announcement: cinnamon rolls! I tried to think of a catchy name for this one, but nothing rhymes with cinnamon or rolls… Anyway, check out these mouthwatering pictures from a few years ago. My mom has been doing this for a long time, and they have served as many a satisfying breakfast for our family.
I’m taking orders for cinnamon rolls for the holidays. They are made with freshly ground whole wheat, frozen and ready to thaw and bake. I include a bag of powdered sugar and instructions for the icing. Thaw the rolls the night before in the fridge, bake the next morning, add water or milk to the icing bag, and drizzle on your warm cinnamon rolls for an easy but impressive Thanksgiving morning breakfast for your family or guests. An 8×8 disposable aluminum pan holds 9-12 cinnamon rolls and is $10. An 11 x 13 pan holds 12-15 and is $15. We are taking orders now and will deliver the week of Thanksgiving. If you need them before that, please let me know.
